Are we leading a creative life? In our fast paced society where analysis and decision taking is the norm of the day, creativity is sometimes a luxury that few can afford. For many who spend their days at offices, in between papers and computer screens, the possibility of using their minds and hands for creating a drawing, a painting, a film, sculpture or any other artistic creation is a dream. The main challenge is often, how do we start, from where we start?
A creative workshop can be a great way to begin the process of bringing out our creative self, refreshing our minds and finding the right balance between our analytical and creative sides.
These type of workshops can inmmerse you in an intensive creative atmosphere for a day or more where you will be encouraged to discover and explore your creative strengths and challenges.
The key of any creative workshop is the tutor. The tutor has to be able to inspire you, to transfer to you his or her enthusiasm for the creative fields. Being creative is much more than having a set of skills. It is a way of thinking and being. A creative tutor has to stimulate and awaken your mind to its creative possibilities. Before joining, learn about the tutor and look at the program in detail. Does it cover a range of areas that are interesting for you? Does the tutor s background appeal to you? Some creative workshops are located on specific venues but many can travel to your location to organize and give the workshop where you are. Find the possibilities and ask for the details. There is a creative mind in all of us that often gets silenced by the rhythm and the noise of our every day lives. Unlocking the gates of your creativity can be the beginning to a life that is more balanced and richer in every way.
Creativity is not just about painting, film-making or singing. Those are the consequences of the principles that lay at the base of every creative process. A good workshop will allow you practice techniques but always putting the emphasis on the understanding of the principles that sustain them. For only that will provide you with a strong enough base to adapt to the challenges that will arrive as you deal with your creative projects.
Reading books and following tutorials online can give you ideas and suggest ways of becoming more creative, but nothing can beat finding a great tutor, an artist that is willing to share his or her experiences and whose personality and enthusiasm for the creative life becomes contagious and awakens in you the wish and the passion to push your boundaries and become more creative.
Becoming more creative also means breaking the habit of looking for comfortable paths in life. The creative person has to constantly challenge himself/herself, to raise new questions and seek different answers to them. Uncertainty is the media where creative people thrive, an uncertainty that mirrors the reality of our lives, which constantly change day by day.
Becoming more creative means growing in every way.
