An electrical generator is a device that converts mechanical energy (or power) into electrical energy. There are two types of generators, one is ac generator and other is dc generator.

An ac generator produces alternating power. A dc generator produces direct power. In alternating current (AC), the flow of electric charge periodically reverses direction. The usual waveform of an AC power circuit is a sine wave. In direct current (DC), the flow of electric charge is in one direction.

When a conductor moves in a magnetic field it cuts magnetic line force, due to which an emf is induced in the conductor. The magnitude of this induced emf depends upon the rate of change of flux (magnetic line force) linkage with the conductor. This emf causes a current to flow when the conductor circuit is closed.

nergy-saving is a vital consideration throughout the world. DC makes great economic advantage in terms of acceptability, efficiencies and return on investment. DC systems lower the overall costs in major power applications. Fuel savings result in better earning.

DC power can reduce fuel consumption by 30-40 percent compared to a conventional AC diesel Generator. A conventional AC generator is designed to run at fixed rpm and offers best fuel efficiency when loaded at 80 percent or more, whereas DC power is utilized in variable speed generators to match the load, thus consuming less fuel at part loads.

A DC generator has similar basic components of a basic AC generator. The main dissimilarity between a direct current generator and an alternating current one is the method by which revolving coil is linked to the external circuit that contains the load. Both ends of the coil of the alternating current generator are linked to separate slip rings that co-revolve with the coil. In DC generators, both ends of the coil are connected to different halves of one split ring that revolves alongside with the coil.

DC systems have many advantages over AC generators. One of the most notable is its efficiency of fuel consumption.

With use of the product in hybrid generator that is highly efficient, energy saving and environmental friendly, the running cost is greatly reduced. NdFeB Magnets offer systems high efficiency. Under low load, the voltage regulator can vary engine speed resulting in fuel savings of up to 33 percent.

DC systems are engineered to address not only the optimum consumption of fuel at varying loads but also in the process helps bridging the widening gap that exists between electrical power supply and demand in developing countries. Relative saving in fuel burning as compared to the AC Gensets results into considerable reduction in CO2 emission.

Concept and technology of DC diesel generators has evolved from the facts that specially designed variable speed engine consumes fuel with varying load conditions unlike as in conventional AC Diesel Gensets. Secondly AC DGs waste fuel while operating at partial loads as their engines function at fixed speeds only.
